Tapping into traditions (345 out of 365) #blogaday

It is interesting to join in on someone else’s holiday traditions – whether its the different movies you watch or how they spread holiday cheer. Yesterday I went caroling with my boyfriend’s family (which was very fun!) and then I showed him one of my Christmas movies πŸ™‚ It was a great day and really got me more in the mood!

Cackling with comedies (109 out of 365) #blogaday

Instead of thinking about work in the evening, it is fun to relax with a silly movie. Tonight, I watched The Croods and Pink Panther with my roommate. Just forgetting what is to come during the week and what already happened is easy when you’re laughing at a stupid comedy. During the week, it can be tough to relax because there is lots to do from the time you get back, to before you go to sleep. It is important to try and stay calm on the weekends, even though there is much to be done. Take each assignment little by little, and make sure to enjoy the fun when you get a chance.

Since this year has basically been an extension of senior year, it is even more difficult to stay motivated this term. Senioritis is difficult to kick, but I try to stay on top of it when I can. Starting assignments before it’s necessary helps keep yourself sane. Some pressure at the end can be useful as well, if you work best that way. However, it isΒ ALWAYS necessary to give yourself breaks and not to over do it. You may burn out before the term is done. Watch some silly movies or shows to keep you laughing – it can be contagious and simply smiling lightens your mood πŸ™‚

Finding good films (46 out of 365) #blogaday

Earlier tonight, I watched the Oscars and it made me think of the impact that quality entertainment has on society and on myself. I didn’t catch all the nominees this time around, but the ones I did were very powerful! Movies are similar to books in the sense that you can get sucked in and attached to the characters if they catch your interest. This year’s films really did that – I nearly cried watching some, was very motivated and excited during others, and just emotionally changed at the end. I think a GREAT way to keep getting through graduate school is to make sure to have a movie night every now and then – it doesn’t need to involve going out to the theater (because I know that we are all quite poor due to debt and using what we have on essentials). Finding something online or watching some of your favorites on DVD can be great ways to forget about the real world and be sucked into the wonder of the movie. watching movies postAt the beginning of grad school, I watched Black Fish and it really made me re-think what I knew about SeaWorld. You can watch movies just for fun of course too! I just recently watched Up again and it put me in such a good mood πŸ™‚ Movies make such an impact on my life because I really focus and try not to make comments – it’s important to me to get the whole experience and story. I hope you enjoy watching movies with friends or by yourself when you can! watching movies post2
