Yesterday, I had a great time bonding with some coworkers at dinner and a night out. It is really important to connect outside of work, so you can become closer friends and have a better trust back on the job. Dinner was much needed after a long week, and we all chatted for hours about our kids and other side conversations. It would be nice to make this a weekly event, and try to add more coworkers to the mix!
Today, I saw that the preschool teacher had her students make pet masks and I love the idea! I definitely want to do this next week for our pet unit – there were eyes cutout and pipe cleaners for whiskers. They used other shapes to decorate them as well. It is nice to get activities from coworkers because you have seen them successfully executed.
This first week has really helped me grow in myself as an educator, and begin to come up with fun enhancements to lessons. It has been tiring with trying to keep attention of the children at times, but since this isn’t an actual school for them, they don’t have the same discipline. It was something I had to get used to, but if the children are starting to get antsy, the activity should just be stopped. I really enjoyed this first week as the sole teacher overall! I loved meeting more with the children and getting to know my coworkers – I can tell this will be a great environment to work in 🙂 I look forward to more memories!
