I thought since it was almost Christmas Eve and I wrote a post on that day last year that I would bring it back as a reflection on where I have been. I still agree with this for the most part! I already talked about this with the current school I am working at, which shows that holidays are pretty similar in many different educational settings.
It is interesting to join in on someone else’s holiday traditions – whether its the different movies you watch or how they spread holiday cheer. Yesterday I went caroling with my boyfriend’s family (which was very fun!) and then I showed him one of my Christmas movies 🙂 It was a great day and really got me more in the mood!
Even though I have done lots of prep for Christmas, it hasn’t really hit me yet because I am working until the 23rd – I know next week it will start to get me excited and the kids will probably be all hyped up but it wont fully kick in until I bring my cat and presents to my parents house after work on Wednesday! I can’t believe Christmas is in less than a week 🙂 it is my favorite time of year and I can’t wait for my mind to figure it out ha.
The holidays just make things better! Today was such a great day at work 🙂 many children were wearing ugly sweaters and I made a train that got decorated in tissue paper, and then there was a good turnout for the spaghetti dinner – I think I’m also excited that it is almost Christmas!
I introduced the class to Bessie today 🙂 it was very sweet seeing them play with her, and learn through her about travel. The children like simply holding her and using her bags to store some of their toys. This post is on the Traveling Teddy Bear website, and I look forward to seeing what else the children include her in!
I can’t believe I only have 25 more posts to go! It is getting difficult to come up with things and remember to write every day, but its only until January 8th – its crazy how much has happened in my year of blogging and I’ll definitely do some long reflections as the time gets to closer to ending the challenge 😮
This week begins Secret Santa, and it is exciting to be included in this while at work! I’ve seen many posts about holiday parties on Facebook, and I am glad that I signed up for it. I plan to get my person a few little gifts each day and am wondering what my “Santa” will do for me – I didn’t get a gift today but at the same time, I didn’t give one either. Ill give more tomorrow to make up for it 😮 It is a very relaxed setting but its fun!
It is always interesting how time flies when you are enjoying yourself the most – it should slow down so you can really cherish the moments! If you pack weekends with fun things because you work during the week, they go by quickly and if you just relax they go by just as fast..but once the work week starts, each day slows to hour by hour. Life is so strange that way
The Traveling Teddy, Bessie, arrived on Thursday in my classroom! Things were a bit hectic so I have not introduced her yet, but the children will meet her on Monday – our unit is Things That Go so we will be discussing the various ways she could have traveled to us. I am excited for them to play with her and have her sitting with us during the small group activities and circle time:)
This weekend has started Christmas festivities for my family and boyfriend – we decorated the tree with lots of holiday music on, and then went to the zoo lights which was very relaxing and fun! Today we are seeing A Christmas Story on the big screen in one of the local theaters. I like starting a couple weeks before Christmas because it gets me in the mindset of celebrating 🙂
Sorry I missed doing a post on Saturday!
