Helpful or harmful? (215 out of 365) #blogaday

There is a student who is learning English as a second language in my classroom, and the other kids are mostly helping her with vocabulary by asking her to say certain words that they use often like backpack, crayon, ball, etc. However, today, they started to say silly things to her or make fun of the fact she can’t say it properly. I will have to speak to them before school to explain that she doesn’t understand that they are joking – she just wants to make them happy and sometimes, they ask her to say things when it is disruptive to the lesson. It is interesting how something that started off as helpful to her is now becoming harmful…
